Youssef ElSonbaty, a sophomore on the 2013-14 Malone University men's tennis team, has received the 2014 All-GLIAC Men's Tennis Honorable Mention distinction.
ElSonbaty, of Cairo, Egypt, shared the most singles wins for the Pioneers with five as well as most doubles wins with three. He played in all but one match as the squad's #1 singles player, posting a 5-11 record. He also led the Pioneers in singles conference wins with two.
ElSonbaty was also a member of the team's #1 doubles group with teammate
Puneet Sharma as the twosome led Malone in doubles wins. In all nine of ElSonbaty's wins (singles and doubles combined), he won by convincing margins, with all but one coming in straight sets.
Last year, ElSonbaty racked up an All-GLIAC Second Team accolade.
