The Malone University men's tennis team faced an outstanding Grand Valley State University (MI) team, which was ranked eighth in the region, on Sunday and lost to the host Lakers by the score of 9-0.

With the conference loss, the Pioneers dropped to 3-10 overall and to 1-5 in the GLIAC while GVSU improved to 15-5 overall and to 7-1 in GLIAC play.

For Malone, Steffan Dwarkasingh, playing at #2 singles, pocketed the most game wins with five as he battled to a 6-3, 6-2 loss.  Youssef ElSonbaty, at #1 singles, captured three games in his 6-3, 6-0 loss.

ElSonbaty and Puneet Sharma, competing at #1 doubles, grabbed two game wins but fell short in an 8-2 loss.

Malone will be back in action on Friday (April 4th) when the Pioneers will host Ohio Dominican University in a 12:00 p.m. contest.
