Men's Tennis Loses First Home Spring Match 6-3 To #46 Lewis

Vladyslav Dyenyezhka tallied a win at #6 singles on Friday against #46 Lewis University by the score of 6-0, 6-0.

The Malone University men's tennis team opened its 2014 spring season on Friday in a non-conference home match to NCAA Division II #46 ranked Lewis University (IL) but lost to the visiting Flyers by the score of 6-3.

At the Green Tennis Club in Green, Ohio, the Pioneers earned two singles wins and one doubles victory.

In singles, Scott Glasgow pocketed a nail-biting 7-6, 7-5 win at the #5 spot while Vladyslav Dyenyezhka cruised to a perfect 6-0, 6-0 victory at #6 singles.

In doubles, Brett Krejci and Trevor Bowers, at #3, earned the lone tandem win for Malone as they secured a solid 8-2 win.

With the loss, Malone, which posted an 0-2 record last fall, dropped to 0-3 on the 2013-14 campaign while Lewis improved to 2-0 overall.

Malone will be back in action next Friday (Feb. 21) in another home match, this one against GLIAC opponent Lake Superior State University (MI) in a 12:00 p.m. match at the Green Tennis Club.
