Saturday's contest will mark the first-ever meeting between the Pioneers and Wildcats.

Coaches:   
Malone – Eric Hehman is in his fifth season as the Pioneers' head coach and has tallied a 10-37 record at Malone.  Prior to arriving in Canton, Hehman spent the previous five years as the head coach at NCAA Division III Greenville (IL) College where he led the Panthers to a 28-22 record and a berth in the 2009 NCCAA Victory Bowl.
 Northern Michigan – Chris Ostrowsky is in his third season as the head coach at NMU and has led the Wildcats to an 8-18 record.  He served as the offensive coordinator at Northern Michigan for two years before taking over as the head coach in 2012.  His resume also includes assistant coaching positions at NCAA Div. I Northeastern (MA) University and NCAA Div. III Widener (PA) University.

Malone Notes: The Pioneers fell 42-13 at Ashland University on Saturday…After the Eagles jumped out to a 21-0 advantage, Malone engineered a 12-play, 72-yard touchdown drive to cut the deficit to 21-6...The Pioneer defense came up with fourth-down stops on Ashland's next two possessions, but Malone was unable to further trim the AU lead as a pair of second-half turnovers helped the Eagles put the game away …The Pioneers' first score on Saturday came on a one-yard run, giving Malone its 13th straight game with at least one rushing touchdown…The Pioneers continue to lead the GLIAC in red zone touchdown percentage, having crossed the goal line nine times in 11 attempts (82%)

Malone players to watch:  RB Kyle Nutter paced the Pioneer ground game on Saturday with 40 rushing yards and a TD… Nutter, who transferred to Malone from the University of Cincinnati, has carried the ball 33 times for 95 yards and two TD's this year…RB Ronnie Beers is the Pioneers' leading rusher this season with 214 yards on 34 carries (6.3 average) with one TD…Beers has also made solid contributions in the passing game with 11 catches for a team-high 136 yards and one score…WR Josh McLaughlin snagged five catches for 53 yards against Ashland…LB Dan Mower has posted a team-high 32 total tackles on the season, including 5.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks…DB Demarco Donaldson returned from injury Saturday to make six tackles…Donaldson has made 30 tackles in four games played so far this season.

Northern Michigan Notes: The Wildcats lost a heart-breaker at Saginaw Valley State (MI) University by a final score of 14-7 last Saturday…The Cardinals broke a 7-7 tie with a minute remaining, intercepting a pass and returning it 48 yards for the go-ahead score…NMU moved the ball to the SVSU 15-yard line in the final moments, but the Cardinals picked off a pass at the one-yard line as time expired to preserve the win…Each of Northern Michigan's four defeats have come by 10 points or less, including losses to both Hillsdale (MI) College and Michigan Tech University by just three points… The Wildcat defense ranks fourth among the GLIAC's 15 teams in both points (19.6) and yards allowed (356.4) per game.

Northern Michigan players to watch: QB Shaye Brown has completed 88 of 162 passes (54.3%) so far this season for 1167 yards with seven TDs and seven interceptions…WR Kelvin Smart has hauled in a team-best 22 receptions on the year for 308 yards and two scores…Fellow WR Marcus Tucker has also been one of Brown's favorite targets, having recorded 16 catches for 230 yards and three TDs….RB Wyatt Jurasin has racked up 450 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 110 carries…LB Levi Perry made 13 total tackles in Saturday's game vs. SVSU and currently paces the NMU defense with 44 tackles on the year, including seven tackles for loss and one sack…DL Trever Kruzel has posted four sacks through the Wildcats' first five games, the second most in the conference…In all, Kruzel has registered 31 total tackles and two forced fumbles.
