Malone Notes: The Pioneers fell to rival Walsh University this past Saturday by a final tally of 35-13… Walsh tallied a pair of touchdowns within the final two minutes of the second quarter and then ran back the second-half kickoff for another score to build a commanding 28-0 lead…Malone fought back with 13 straight points before the Cavaliers regained control with a rushing TD midway through the fourth quarter…After recovering a fumble against Walsh, the Pioneers are now tied for the GLIAC lead with nine fumble recoveries on the season…The Malone defense has recorded at least one sack in each of its first seven games this year.

Malone players to watch:  RB Ronnie Beers broke free for a 72-yard rushing TD on Saturday vs the Cavaliers, marking the longest run from scrimmage for a Pioneer since 2010 when Justin McLean scored on an 82-yard run (also against Walsh)… On the season, Beers has rushed for 384 yards on 57 carries (6.7 average) with five TDs…He has also made solid contributions in the passing game with 15 catches for 180 yards and two scores…WR Josh McLaughlin is the Pioneers' leading receiver with 20 catches for 270 yards and two TDs.…DB Demarco Donaldson tallied seven tackles and forced two fumbles against Walsh, moving to first place in the Pioneer record book with 15 career forced fumbles…Donaldson is currently tied for the NCAA Division II lead this season in both forced fumbles (five) and fumble recoveries (four)..The senior, now with 52 tackles on the year and 339 in his career, needs three more stops to move into second place on the Pioneers' career tackles list.

Lake Erie Notes: LEC enters Saturday's game on a two-game winning streak, most recently registering a 24-21 home victory over Saginaw Valley State  (MI) University…The Storm trailed 21-17 at halftime but then shut out the Cardinals over the final two quarters, pulling ahead for good on a 67-yard rushing TD late in the third quarter…Lake Erie ranks among the GLIAC leaders in several offensive categories, including points (31.0 per game), total yards (456.6 per game) and rushing (271.6 yards per game)…Although the Storm defense has intercepted 14 passes this year, the third most in Division II, the unit has also surrendered an average of 45.7 points and 570.6 yards per contest.

Lake Erie players to watch: RB Anthony Bilal, LEC's career rushing leader, has picked up 1242 rushing yards on 148 attempts this season (8.4 average) with 19 rushing touchdowns…Bilal currently leads the NCAA Division II ranks in both scoring and rushing TDs and is second in rushing yards, just 37 shy of the nation's rushing-yardage leader…In four games played this year, QB Ryan Bitzer has completed 32 of 57 pass attempts for 491 yards and three TDs….WR Tommy Jackson has been the primary target in the passing game with 30 receptions for 561 yards and a score…DB Tony Andrews has snagged seven interceptions this season, including a four-interception performance in a win over Notre Dame College on Oct. 11 and two picks last week vs. SVSU…Andrews has also made an impact on special teams as he has averaged 25.4 yards on his 18 kickoff returns, including a 93-yard run back for a TD against Grand Valley State (MI) University.
