WalshTed Karras Jr. is in his second year as the head coach at Walsh University.  Karras has compiled a 66-52 career record in 12 seasons as a head coach and spent the previous seven years at Marian (IN) University, having led the Knights to 12-1 record and an NAIA National Title in 2012.

Last Season's Records: Malone 2-9 (1-8 GLIAC), Walsh 3-8 (3-6 GLIAC)

Malone Notes: The Pioneers pocketed a thrilling 42-35 overtime win on Saturday during their Homecoming Game against Northern Michigan University… After falling behind 35-21 with just over six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the Pioneers rallied back to force overtime and then took their first lead of the afternoon with an overtime touchdown...The Pioneer defense would then halt NMU's overtime possession, sealing the dramatic win  by forcing and recovering a fumble at the one-yard line…In all, Malone forced six turnovers on Saturday, the most the squad had forced in a single game since 2011…The Pioneers were 3-for-3 in the red zone on Saturday and continue to lead the GLIAC in red zone touchdown percentage, having crossed the goal line 12 times in 14 attempts (86%).

Malone players to watch:  RB Ronnie Beers accounted for four touchdowns (three rushing, one receiving) in Saturday's win…the performance marked just the ninth time in Malone football history that one player has crossed the goal line four or more times in a single game… On the season, Beers has rushed for 301 yards on 51 carries (5.9 average) with four TDs…He has also made solid contributions in the passing game with 14 catches for 176 yards and two scores…WR Josh McLaughlin hauled in four catches for 89 yards in Saturday's win, including a game-tying 62-yard TD grab near the end of the fourth quarter.…QB Kaleb Scott threw two TD passes and ran for another in Saturday's game …DB Demarco Donaldson racked up 15 total tackles and two forced fumbles vs. NMU while also establishing a new Malone single-game record with three fumble recoveries..The senior, now with 45 total tackles on the year, currently leads all of NCAA Division II with four fumble recoveries..In addition, Donaldson is tied for fifth in the nation in forced fumbles with three.

Walsh Notes: The Cavaliers opened their season with a convincing 45-10 win at home over Tiffin University but have since dropped five straight, including a 47-7 defeat in last week's contest at the University of Findlay…The Oilers took command of Saturday's contest with 24 second-quarter points and then held the Cavs off the scoreboard until midway through the fourth quarter…With QB Brody Tonn sidelined due to injury against Findlay, the Cavs were limited to a season-low 134 yards of offense and eight first downs…Walsh has been effective in the return game this year, averaging 29.4 yards on its five punt returns and 23.6 yards on its 38 kickoff returns.

Walsh players to watch: QB Brody Tonn, who missed last week's game due to injury and is listed as questionable for this week,  has completed 94 of 154 passes (61.0%) so far this season for 1043 yards with eight TDs and eight interceptions…WRs Anthony Schrock and Jerald Robinson have each played big roles in the passing game this year…Schrock has 23 catches for 292 and one score while Robinson has also hauled in 23 receptions for 261 yards and three TDs…RB Justin Keith has paced the Walsh ground game with 361 rushing yards and two TDs on 72 attempts….Keith has also caught 13 passes for 155 yards…LB Cameron Trudell racked up 17 tackles against the Oilers and currently leads the Cavalier defense with 47 stops on the year…DB CJ Chatman, who had eight tackles and a forced fumble against Findlay, ranks second on the team with 37 tackles.
