The Malone University women's soccer team (3-3-1, 1-2 GLIAC) was upended by Lake Erie College (2-5, 1-2 GLIAC) 4-1 on Friday night.

Elizabeth Awuah's two first-half goals for the Storm staked the home side to a 2-0 halftime lead. Lake Erie would up the lead to three goals in the 54th minute before freshman Brianna Smith tried to ignite a Pioneer comeback with a goal in the 67th minute. However, the comeback bid was put to an abrupt halt when Paige Nemec scored Lake Erie's fourth goal in the 75th minute.

Shots in the game were dead even with each team unleashing 14 attempts. Malone sophomore goalkeeper Staci Hackett made five saves while senior Ally Smith led Malone with six shots, three of which were on goal.

Malone will face a stiff test in their next contest, Friday Oct. 4th, when they travel to Allendale, Michigan to face the NCAA Division II #1-ranked Grand Valley State University Lakers at 7:00 p.m.  Live video will be provided during the contest at http://www.gvsulakers.com/allaccess/?media=406497
