CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. - The Malone University women's soccer team (3-4-2, 2-3-1) fell 2-0 at Thomas More University (7-1-2, 5-1-0) on Thursday afternoon. The Pioneers battled defensively but fell to the Saints in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) action.
The first half opened with a save from Amelia Henderhan (3-4-2) at 8:13 for the Pioneers. Thomas More found the back of the net at the 20-minute mark and took a 1-0 lead. Pioneer forward Morgan Kandel helped to keep the Saints off the scoreboard for the remainder of the first half.
The Malone defense held again to begin the second half with a shot on goal that was saved by Henderhan at 55:52. Thomas More found the back of the net at 58:40 and extended the lead to 2-0. Raegan Radel had shot attempts in the 67th and 69th minute marks to keep the Pioneers on the attack. Radel had another shot attempt at the 76th minute mark for the Malone offense. The Pioneer defense held strong with another save by Henderhan at 78:44.
Jojo Knight leads Malone in goals this season with three and in shots on goal with eight. Four other Pioneers are second in goals this season with one each. Henderhan leads the team in saves this season with 29. Thomas More held the shot-on-goal advantage in the contest 6-1 and in corner kicks 5-2.
The Pioneers will return to action on Thursday, October 1st at 1:00 P.M. against Ashland University for more G-MAC action.
