Pioneers Drop a Contest Against the Oilers

FINDLAY, Ohio - The Malone University women's soccer team (3-6-2, 2-5-1) fell 4-1 on the road at Findlay University (8-2-2, 5-1-2) on a cool Thursday evening. The Pioneers dropped a match to the Oilers in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) action. 

The Oilers began the first half with a goal 13 seconds into the contest and grabbed an early 1-0 lead. The Pioneer offense attacked with shots at  7:36 and 8:09 from Jojo Knight. The Malone offense tied the match 1-1 at 18:42 with a goal from Morgan Kandel that was assisted by Eliza Wills. Malone held the Oilers off the scoreboard with four saves from Amelia Henderhan (3-6-2) in the first half. 

 

The second half started with a defensive stand by the Pioneers and another Henderhan save. Henderhan added another save at 54:59 and the Malone defense kept Findlay off of the scoreboard. However the Oilers found the back of the net at the 66 minute mark and took a 2-1 lead. Findlay added a goal at 76:29 and extended the lead to 3-1. Henderhan grabbed another save at the 83 minute mark but Findlay extended the lead to 4-1 with a goal at the 85 minute mark. 

 

Knight leads Malone in goals this season with three and in shots on goal with ten. Five other Pioneers are second in goals this season with one each. Wills leads Malone in assists this season with two. Findlay held the shots on goal advantage with a 12-4 mark and in corner kicks 10-0.

The Pioneers will turn to action at home for Senior Day against G-MAC foe Ursuline College on Saturday October 10th, at 1:00 P.M.
