Women's Soccer Celebrates Seniors with 3-0 Win

CANTON, Ohio - The Malone University women's soccer team took a 3-0 victory over Ursuline College on senior day. The Pioneers improve to 4-6-2, while the Arrows fall to 3-8-1. In the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), Malone stands at 3-5-1, and Ursuline drops to 2-7-0.

The Pioneers kicked things off quickly in the first half with early shots from Jojo Knight and senior Alyssa Schofield, but were met by the Arrows' goalkeeper. The first period was competitive as both sides were trading shots one after another. Senior Goalkeeper Amelia Henderhan (4-6-2) was the key player for the Pioneer defense in the first half, recording six saves to keep Malone in the game. Both sides went into halftime with a 0-0 first period.

In the second half, the Pioneers found their rhythm as Raegan Radel connected her pass with Emily Bayles for a Malone goal at 70:15 to take a 1-0 lead. Not long after, Bayles added an assist under her belt, finding McKenna Schwartzengraber for another Pioneer goal in the 75th minute to make the score 2-0. Morgan Kandel was credited with an assist on the play as well.

Malone wasn't done yet, as senior Sydney Farinacci added to the scoreboard to give the Pioneers a comfortable 3-0 lead at 81:31. The Arrows were unable to find any opportunities for a goal as the clock hit zero, giving Malone a clean-sweep victory on senior day.

The Pioneer offense was led by Farinacci, Bayles, and Schwartzengraber, as all three recorded a goal each on the day. Goalkeeper Henderhan had a clean sheet with seven saves in today's match. Henderhan, Eliza Wills, Maya Najjar and Emmilina Miller stayed on the pitch for the full 90 minutes.

The Malone University women's soccer team will be on the road on October 10 to take on the Lake Erie for another Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matchup. Kickoff is at 7:00 P.M.
