The Warriors notched a 38-14 victory in the first-ever meeting between the two teams last fall at Fawcett Stadium.

Coaches:   
MaloneEric Hehman is in his fourth season as the Pioneers' head coach and has tallied an 8-26 record at Malone.  Prior to arriving in Canton, Hehman spent the previous five years as the head coach at NCAA Division III Greenville (IL) College where he led the Panthers to a 28-22 record and a berth in the 2009 NCCAA Victory Bowl.
Wayne StatePaul Winters, now in his tenth season as the head coach of the Warriors, has compiled a 54-50 record at Wayne State.  He was named the AFCA Division II National Coach of Year after a memorable 2011 campaign in which he led WSU to a 12-4 record and an appearance in the Division II National Championship Game.  Prior to becoming the Warriors' head coach, Winters held assistant coach positions at the Univ. of Akron, the Univ. of Wisconsin and the Univ. of Toledo.

Malone Notes:  The Pioneers suffered a tough 41-16 defeat in their home opener against Hillsdale College this past Saturday…Malone fell behind 17-0 midway through the first quarter after turning the ball over deep in its own territory on its first three possessions…The Charger lead then grew to 41-3 midway through the third quarter before the Pioneers cut into the deficit with a pair of late touchdown drives…Malone has struggled with slow starts in its first three games as opponents have outscored the Pioneers 41-6 in the first quarter this year…Malone is tied for eighth among the GLIAC's 15 teams in rushing with an average of 177.3 yards on the ground per game…The Pioneer offense has notched six touchdowns and one field goal on its eight trips into the red zone this year…Malone ranks seventh in the conference in time of possession, holding the ball for an average of 30:09…The Pioneers are 1-2 all-time in games played in the state of Michigan.

Malone players to watch:  RB Bryce Pratt picked up 54 rushing yards on just eight carries during Saturday's contest vs. Hillsdale…Pratt has racked up 327 yards and a TD on 52 rushing attempts so far this season (6.3 average)…Pratt's average of 109 rushing yards per game ranks seventh in the GLIAC…WR Jordan Phillips totaled 172 all-purpose yards on Saturday vs. Hillsdale, posting 40 rushing yards on an end-around, snagging five catches for 67 yards and a TD, and notching 65 yards on a four kickoff returns…On the season, Phillips leads the squad in receiving with 10 catches for 124 yards and a TD…The red-shirt freshman also ranks ninth in the GLIAC with an average of 141.7 all-purpose yards per game…QB Will Szpor entered Saturday's contest in the second half and completed 11 of 17 passes for 142 yards and two TD's…On the season, the junior signal caller has completed 53% (30 of 57) of his throws for 303 yards with three touchdowns and one interception…DB Demarco Donaldson piled up 12 tackles and forced a fumble during Saturday's game…Donaldson's average of 11.3 tackles per game is tied for third in the GLIAC and his three forced fumbles ranks as the second-highest total in all of NCAA Division II.

Wayne State Notes:  The Warriors opened the year with a 55-28 defeat at 17th-ranked Carson-Newman (TN) College…Wayne State bounced back with a 34-22 win over 22nd-ranked Ashland University before falling on the road to Lake Erie College this past Saturday by a final tally of 35-17…The Storm took control early on during Saturday's contest, forcing three first-half turnovers and scoring 21 second-quarter points to take a commanding 28-7 lead into the locker room at intermission…The Warriors are currently -5 in turnover margin, having lost four fumbles and thrown five interceptions in their first three games…WSU is tied with Malone for eighth in the GLIAC in rushing, averaging 177.3 yards on the ground per game…The Warriors rank second in the GLIAC in pass defense, yielding only 181.3 yards through the air per game…WSU has been one of the GLIAC's least-penalized teams through the first three weeks of the season, having been flagged just 10 times for 100 yards.

Wayne State players to watch: RB Toney Davis registered 97 rushing yards and a TD on 23 carries during Saturday's contest at Lake Erie…Davis, who climbed into Wayne State's Top 10 list for all-purpose yards following Saturday's performance, has carried the ball 56 times this year for 240 yards (4.3 yards per carry) and one TD…QB Carl Roscoe has stepped in to try and fill the void left by the departure of four-year starter Mickey Mohner…Through Wayne State's first three games, Roscoe has completed 21 of 55 pass attempts (38.2%) for 365 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions…QB Sean Guinane has also seen time under center, having completed 13 of 25 attempts for 147 yards with two TDs and two interceptions…WR Michael Johnson has been the leading target in the passing game with a total of 10 receptions for 193 yards and a score…LB Ed Viverette currently leads the conference with five sacks, is tied with Malone's Demarco Donaldson for the GLIAC lead in forced fumbles with three and is tied for third in the conference in tackles with 34…Viverette was named D2Football.com's National Defensive Player of the Week earlier this year after he forced a fumble, returned a fumble for a TD and posted nine tackles and 3.5 sacks in the Warriors' week two win over Ashland.
