The Malone University men's tennis team suffered an 8-1 defeat at the University of Findlay on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Pioneers fell to 8-13 overall on the season and to 1-6 in GLIAC play while the Oilers improved to 5-10 overall and to 2-6 in the GLIAC.

Youssef ElSonbaty earned the only victory for the Pioneers on the day as he posted a straight-set 6-2, 6-3 win at #1 singles. Alex Steinmetz  at #4, fought to a three-set loss at 6-2, 3-6, 3-10 while Vladyslav Dyenyezhka  at #3, took five games in the second set from his opponent but lost 6-0, 7-5.

In doubles, the Pioneers' #3 unit of Steffan Dwarkasingh and Steinmetz came the closest to a win but came up just short in an 8-6 loss.

Malone will close out the weekend's competition with a match at Tiffin University tomorrow (Sunday) in an 11:00 a.m. contest.
