Men's Tennis Closes Out Season With 8-1 Home Loss To Wayne State

Freshman Youssef ElSonbaty earned the only win for Malone on the day, at #1 singles, after his WSU opponent retired midway through the second set.

The Malone University men's tennis team closed out its 2012-2013 season by competing against another impressive GLIAC opponent on Sunday as the Pioneers lost an 8-1 decision to the Wayne State University (MI) Warriors at the Harvard Courts in Canton.

With the loss, Malone finished with an overall record of 8-17 on the year and a 1-10 mark in its first year in the GLIAC.  WSU improved to 12-5 overall and to 9-1 in GLIAC play.

Youssef ElSonbaty, playing at #1 singles, earned the team's only win on the day after his opponent retired midway through the second set.

Nate Davis fought down to the wire with his #2 singles opponent as he won the first set 6-3 but lost the second set 6-4 and  then fell 1-0 in the third set.

At #4 singles, Alex Steinmetz won seven games from his opponent in a 6-3, 6-4 loss.
