Men's Tennis Closes Out Hilton Head Trip With 7-2 Win Over Previously Unbeaten Cornell College

Senior Nate Davis earned a 6-0, 6-2 win at #2 singles and also an 8-6 #1 doubles victory (teaming with Youssef ElSonbaty) as Malone defeated Cornell (IA) 7-2.

The Malone University men's tennis team wrapped up its five-day stretch of matches in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina on Friday afternoon with a 7-2 win over previously unbeaten Cornell College (IA). With the win, and after winning four of seven matches during the spring break trip, Malone improved to 6-7 overall on the year while Cornell fell to 7-1.

Each of the Pioneers' five singles match victories came in straight sets as Youssef ElSonbaty (#1), Nate Davis (#2), Alex Steinmetz (#4), Steffan Dwarkasingh (#5) and Andrew Hill (#6) all pocketed wins.

In doubles, the two Malone victories came by much narrower margins as ElSonbaty and Davis won 8-6 at #1 while Steinmetz and Dwarkasingh emerged with a 9-8 win at #3.

Malone will next compete on March 16th in a non-conference home match (3:30 p.m.) vs. Thiel College (PA).
