The Malone University men's tennis team lost a 9-0 contest on the road Tuesday in a non-conference match at Ohio Northern University. With the loss, the Pioneers dropped to 8-9 overall on the season (remaining at 1-2 in the GLIAC) while ONU improved to 6-4 on the year.

While no Pioneer individual player or doubles unit was able to pull out a victory, the #1 doubles team of Youssef ElSonbaty and Nate Davis came the closest to a win in a hard-fought 9-8 loss.

Interestingly, in the top four singles matches, the Pioneers' ElSonbaty (#1), Davis (#2), Vladyslav Dyenyezhka (#3) and Alex Steinmetz (#4) each lost their first set in close fashion by the identical score of 7-5 before each dropped the second and final set to their respective ONU opponent.

Malone will next compete in a GLIAC home contest when the squad hosts Grand Valley State University (MI) on Friday (March 29) in a 1:00 p.m. contest at the Green Tennis Club in Green, Ohio.
