The Malone University men's tennis team, competing in its first-ever official GLIAC match, dropped a 9-0 decision at Lake Superior State University (MI) on Sunday to open the 2013 spring season (the men's team's primary season). After a loss to Otterbein College in their only match of the fall, the Pioneers are now 0-2 overall for the 2012-13 year and 0-1 in GLIAC play while LSSU improved to 3-5 overall and to 3-1 in the GLIAC.
Nate Davis, playing at #2 singles, battled his opponent to a three-set finish but came up just short in a third-set 1-0 loss. After dropping the first set 6-2, Davis responded to win the second set in convincing fashion at 6-2 before his LSSU foe claimed victory in the final one-game set.
