Series:
The Cavaliers hold a 12-6 advantage in the annual battle for the John Bankert-Dick Gallagher Memorial Trophy. Although the Pioneers had won three straight meetings from 2006-2008, Walsh has posted victories each of the last four years, including a 34-7 triumph last season. Malone is 2-6 all-time as the "home" team.
Coaches:
Malone –
Eric Hehman is in his fourth season as the Pioneers' head coach and has tallied an 8-28 record at Malone. Prior to arriving in Canton, Hehman spent the previous five years as the head coach at NCAA Division III Greenville (IL) College where he led the Panthers to a 28-22 record and a berth in the 2009 NCCAA Victory Bowl.
Walsh –
Ted Karras Jr. is in his first year as the head coach at Walsh University. Karras took over for Jim Dennison, who had guided the Cavaliers since the football program began play in 1995. Karras has compiled a 63-43 career record in 11 seasons as a head coach and spent the previous seven years at Marian (IN) University, having led the Knights to 12-1 record and an NAIA National Title in 2012.
