Lake Erie notched a 35-24 home victory over Malone in the first-ever meeting between the two teams last season.

Coaches:   
MaloneEric Hehman is in his fourth season as the Pioneers' head coach and has tallied an 8-29 record at Malone.  Prior to arriving in Canton, Hehman spent the previous five years as the head coach at NCAA Division III Greenville (IL) College where he led the Panthers to a 28-22 record and a berth in the 2009 NCCAA Victory Bowl.
Lake ErieMark McNellie is in his sixth season at Lake Erie and has guided the Storm to a 21-40 mark since the program began play in 2008.  In all, McNellie has compiled 25 years of coaching experience, having spent 17 years as an assistant at Mercyhurst (PA) College and two years as an assistant at Fairmont State (WV) University before arriving at Lake Erie.

Malone Notes: The Pioneers fell at home to Walsh this past Saturday by a final score of 38-28…The local rivals traded touchdowns over the first three quarters before the Cavaliers grabbed a commanding 35-21 lead at the start of the fourth stanza after returning an interception 81 yards for a TD…The Pioneers cut into the deficit with a late touchdown run, but the Cavs then ran out the clock to preserve the 10-point win…Malone racked up 490 yards of total offense in Saturday's game…After posting 529 yards at Tiffin in week five, Saturday's performance marked the first time since 2008 that the Pioneers have posted 450 or more yards in back-to-back games…Malone piled up 354 rushing yards against the Cavs on Saturday, the highest rushing total for the squad since a 381-yard performance against Olivet Nazarene in 2010…The Pioneers currently rank third among the GLIAC's 15 teams in rushing, averaging 233.0 yards on the ground per game…Malone has forced five turnovers on the year, but has also lost seven fumbles and had five passes intercepted.

Malone players to watch:  RBs Bryce Pratt and Justin Davis each eclipsed 100 rushing yards for the Pioneers on Saturday (Pratt 107 yards, Davis 126), marking the first time since the 2009 season finale against Olivet Nazarene that Malone has had two rushers reach the century mark in a single game…On the season, Pratt has carried the ball 102 times for 597 yards (5.9 average) and five TDs while Davis has tallied 372 yards and five touchdowns on 70 rushing attempts (5.3 average)…  QB Will Szpor has completed 63 of his 107 pass attempts (58.9%) this season for 658 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions…WR Jordan Phillips posted four catches for 49 yards on Saturday against Walsh…The redshirt freshman currently leads the squad in receiving with 18 receptions for 224 yards and a TD…DB Demarco Donaldson continues to lead all of NCAA Division II with five forced fumbles…Donaldson has posted double-digit tackles in five of six games so far this season and his average of 12.5 tackles per game ranks third in the conference…LB Philip Fisher posted a career-high 11 tackles on Saturday vs. Walsh…the red-shirt freshman has now totaled 37 stops on the season to go with a fumble recovery and a blocked punt.

Lake Erie Notes: The Storm had dropped four of their first five games before picking up a convincing 48-21 win at home over Notre Dame College on Saturday…Lake Erie put Saturday's game away in the first half, taking a commanding 42-7 advantage to the locker room at intermission…The Storm established new single-game records for total yards (687) and rushing yards (406) in the contest against NDC and currently rank among the GLIAC leaders in numerous offensive categories including points per game (sixth, 36.0), total yards (first, 536.0 per game), rushing (second, 278.3 per game), first downs (first, 27.3 per game) and third-down conversions (second, 49%)…Although the squad has committed 12 turnovers and is the second-most penalized team in the GLIAC (68.5 yards per game), LEC has still managed to score 30 or more points in five of its first six contests…In contrast to all the offensive success, the Storm defense has struggled to slow down the opposition, giving up an average of 40.5 points and 501.2 yards per outing.

Lake Erie players to watch: RB Anthony Bilal ranks third in the conference and sixth in all of NCAA Division II in rushing, having picked up 948 yards on 163 attempts (5.8 average)…Bilal has already posted 14 rushing touchdowns on the year, which ranks as the highest scoring total in the GLIAC and is tied for the second most rushing touchdowns in the nation…QB Brendan Gallagher can do damage to opposing defenses with both his arm and his legs as he ranks fourth in the conference in passing (253.2 yards per game) and third in total offense (313.8 yards per game)…the senior signal caller has connected on over 68% of his throws (130 of 191) for 1519 yards with nine touchdowns and three interceptions…Gallagher is also the Storm's second-leading rusher with 364 yards and three TDs…Gallagher's favorite target is WR Tommy Jackson, who has registered 32 catches on the season for 382 yards and three scores…WR Shane VanFleteren has also made an impact in the passing game with 27 receptions for 233 yards and a TD…LB Tanner Wells leads the Lake Erie defense with 53 tackles, including five tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks…Fellow LB Austin Hoeflich has also made significant contributions with 49 tackles, a sack, an interception and a forced fumble.
