The Saginaw Valley State (MI) University Cardinals (7-2-2, 6-1-1 GLIAC) defeated the Malone University men's soccer team (2-8, 1-7 GLIAC) 2-0 on Friday afternoon at Pioneer Field behind goals from Jordan Kalk and Tyler Channell.

Kalk's goal in the 20th minute, a rasping shot from the corner of the eighteen, vaulted the visitors to an early lead.

Malone would scratch and claw to remain within a goal all the way until the 86th minute when Channell slotted home an insurance goal into an open net after Malone's senior goalkeeper Felipe Monteiro's clearance was deflected straight to the fortunate midfielder.

The Cardinals outshot Malone 24-7 for the game. Monteiro was good in goal for Malone, making nine saves. Senior Rubem Miranda led the Pioneers with a team-high two shots.
