OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Malone University men's soccer team (2-5-0, 1-4-0) dropped a 6-0 contest at Kentucky Wesleyan College (3-3-0, 2-2-0) on a cool Thursday evening. The Pioneers fell to the Panthers in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) action.
Kentucky Wesleyan opened the first half with a goal at 1:35 to take a 1-0 lead. The Panthers added another goal at the five minute mark to extend the lead 2-0. At the 19:21 mark the Panthers found the back of the net and made it 3-0 in favor of Kentucky Wesleyan. Felipe Matheis Albertim had three shots on goal in between the 23rd and 25th minute marks of the first half to keep the Pioneer offense on the attack. However Kentucky Wesleyan added another goal to extend the Panther lead to 4-0. Julius Eckmann had a late shot on goal for the Pioneers at 41:09.
The second half opened with a Kentucky Wesleyan goal and extended the lead to 5-0. Camden Albertson had a shot on goal at 47:03 for the Pioneer offense. The Pioneers had another shot attempt at the 69th minute mark by Andrew Walubengo. The Panthers extended the lead to 6-0 with a goal at 77:41.
Eckmann leads the Pioneers in shot attempts with 12. Four different Pioneers each have a goal. Kentucky Wesleyan held the shot advantage by a 13-9 mark and the corner kick advantage 8-5.
The Malone University men's soccer team will return to action on the road at Thomas More University on Saturday, September 26th at 3:30 P.M. for more conference action.
