The Pioneers have registered a 6-6 record in 12 previous meetings with the Dragons. The last two contests in the series have gone to double overtime at Fawcett Stadium with Malone prevailing 40-34 in 2011 and 33-27 last fall. The Pioneers are 2-3 all-time in games played at Tiffin.

Malone –
Eric Hehman is in his fourth season as the Pioneers' head coach and has tallied an 8-27 record at Malone. Prior to arriving in Canton, Hehman spent the previous five years as the head coach at NCAA Division III Greenville (IL) College where he led the Panthers to a 28-22 record and a berth in the 2009 NCCAA Victory Bowl.
Tiffin –
Gary Goff is in his third year as the head coach of the Dragons and has posted a 3-23 record at Tiffin. Prior to becoming TU's head coach, Goff had most recently served as the offensive coordinator at West Virginia Wesleyan University, helping the Bobcats improve from a 2-8 season in 2009 to a 9-2 mark in 2010. Goff's coaching resume also includes previous assistant positions at Princeton University and New Mexico State University.

Malone Notes: The Pioneers fell on the road to Wayne State (MI) this past Saturday by a final score of 38-27…Malone pulled in front 20-10 midway through the second quarter before WSU rattled off 21 unanswered points to grab a 31-20 advantage...The Pioneers cut into the deficit with a late third-quarter TD but were unable to regain the lead, falling by the 11-point margin…The Pioneers tallied three rushing touchdowns during Saturday's game, marking the first time since 2011 vs. Quincy that Malone has crossed the goal line with three rushing TDs in a single game… Malone currently ranks ninth among the GLIAC's 15 teams in rushing with an average of 178.5 yards on the ground per game…The Pioneer offense has tallied 10 touchdowns and one field goal on its 12 trips into the red zone this year…Malone has forced at least one turnover in 11 consecutive games (including the first four games of 2013 and the final seven games of 2012)

Justin Davis &
Bryce Pratt combined for 119 rushing yards and three TDs last week against Wayne State…Through the Pioneers' first four games, Pratt has carried the ball 64 times for 370 yards (5.8 average) and two touchdowns while Davis has picked up 148 yards on 39 attempts (3.8 average) with three touchdowns… Pratt's average of 92.5 rushing yards per game ranks eighth in the GLIAC…QB
Will Szpor returned to the starting lineup vs. WSU and completed 14 of his 21 pass attempts for 150 yards and a TD…On the season, Szpor has connected on over 56% (44 of 78) of his throws for 453 yards with four touchdowns and one interception…DB
Lepear Smith currently ranks second in the GLIAC with an average of 32.2 yards per kickoff return (Smith ran back a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown vs. Saginaw Valley St. earlier this season)…DB
Demarco Donaldson piled up a career-high 19 tackles on Saturday at Wayne State while also forcing and recovering a fumble….Donaldson has now forced four fumbles on the year which is tied for the highest total in all of NCAA Division II…He is also tied for the GLIAC lead in tackles with an average of 13.2 per contest (53 total).
Tiffin Notes: The Dragons opened up their 2013 campaign with a narrow 32-28 defeat at McKendree (IL) and have since lost their first three GLIAC contests, falling at home to Michigan Tech and dropping road games to Grand Valley State (MI) and Northwood (MI)…In last week's 26-11 loss at Northwood, the Dragons racked up 27 first downs and enjoyed an over 20-minute edge in time of possession, but struggled to put points on the scoreboard, managing just three field goals on four trips into the red zone…Tiffin currently ranks fourth in the GLIAC in passing as its "Air Raid" offense has generated an average of 28 completions and 283.5 yards through the air…However, Tiffin has scored only four TDs on 14 trips into the red zone and has struggled on third down, converting on just 17 of 65 attempts (26%)…The Dragon defense is yielding 464 yards per contest, but has also forced six turnovers through the first four games.
Tiffin players to watch: Sophomore Joey Frendo and freshman Anthony Pipkin have split time at QB this season for the Dragons…Pipkin saw all of the snaps last week at Northwood, completing 31 of 49 passes, despite being sacked nine times…On the season, Pipkin has completed over 67% (57 of 85) of his pass attempts for 473 yards with two TDs and one interception…Frendo played in the first three games, connecting on 58 of 99 throws for 633 yards with two TDs and four picks…Five different Tiffin players have made at least 16 receptions so far this season, led by WR Tyler Jones who has pulled in 24 catches for 171 yards…WR Jeremy Armstorng follows with 22 catches for a team-best 299 yards and two scores, while WR Tony Shead has hauled in 21 balls for 231 yards and a score…RB Jerry Brown has paced the TU ground game with 162 yards on 33 carries (4.9 average)…DL Joe Collard, a three-time All-GLIAC selection, has posted 26 tackles and currently shares the conference lead in tackles for loss with six…DBs Brandon Person and Stefan Willis, who both earned All-GLIAC Honorable Mention accolades last fall, anchor the secondary…Person has registered a team-high 34 tackles and forced two fumbles while Willis has snagged two interceptions and made 15 tackles.
