The Malone University men's tennis team, competing in its only match of the fall 2012 season, dropped a narrow 5-4 decision to visiting Otterbein University on Saturday. With its primary season being in the spring, the Pioneers will take an 0-1 record into that campaign while the Cardinals improved to 1-1 for the fall.
The #1 doubles team of
Youssef Sonbaty and
Nate Davis captured a 9-7 victory while Davis was the only "double winner" for Malone on the day with a 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 marathon win at # 2 singles as well.
Steffan Dwarkasingh won at #5 singles 6-0, 7-5 while
Alex Steinmetz, at #6 singles, earned a victory after leading 6-0, 2-0 in the second set before the match went unfinished as the total match victory was secured for the visitors at that point.
