Pioneers Drop 9-0 Home Decision To Wayne State In Opening "Spring" Match

Junior Nate Davis, leading the Pioneers at #1 singles, lost 4-6, 0-6 in his match against Wayne State University Friday. Malone lost the match 9-0.

The Malone University men's tennis team, competing in its first “spring” match of the season, lost to Wayne State University (MI) by a score of 9-0 in a home match at the Hall of Fame Fitness Center in Canton Friday afternoon.  Including its 0-3 record from the fall, Malone now stands at 0-4 for the 2011-12 academic year.  Wayne State, an NCAA Division II Regional Tournament qualifier last season, improved to 2-1 on the season.

While the Pioneers did not win a set against the Warriors, Michael Berry and Andrew Rearick, playing at #3 doubles, did muster four individual game wins in an 8-4 setback.
