Men's Tennis Team Opens Fall Season With 6-3 Loss At Otterbein

Nate Davis earned a three-set victory at #3 singles in Malone's 6-3 loss at Otterbein College on Thursday.


The Malone University men's tennis team, led by first-year head coach Brian Mogus, opened its 2011 fall season by competing at NCAA Div. III Otterbein University on Thursday. The Pioneers played well but suffered a first-match loss by the score of 6-3 against the host Cardinals.

Malone won two singles matches but was only able to win one doubles match. Nathan Davis posted a 2-6, 7-5 / 10-6 win in #3 singles while Joss Celuch posted a 6-2, 6-0 win at #4 singles. The Pioneers' only doubles match victory came in the #3 doubles contest with the duo of Brett Krejci and Jeff DeWitt posting an 8-6 victory.
