AMC Championships - Final Results
The Malone University men's golf team captured the team title at the AMC Championships at the Apple Valley Golf Course in Howard, Ohio Friday while Pioneer golfer
Justin Lower earned his third consecutive AMC medalist honor. Among an eight-team field, the Pioneers posted a two-day 54-hole score of 866 (428-438) to defeat runner-up Daemen College, which tallied a 918, by an impressive 52 strokes.
Point Park (PA) University finished third at 921, Cedarville University took fourth at 930, Walsh University claimed fifth at 937, Mt. Vernon Nazarene University was sixth at 955, Roberts Wesleyan (NY) College came in seventh at 972 and Notre Dame (OH) College rounded out the field at 1011.
Lower paced Malone at the AMC event for the third straight year and claimed his third consecutive AMC medalist honor with rounds of 70, 72 and 69 for a total score of 211 to best a field of 40 golfers.
Tyler Light finished runner-up overall at 216 with rounds of 71, 71 and 74.
Jon Clark was right behind in third at 217 (71-74-72) while
Richie Schembechler tied for fourth overall at 222 (71-75-76). By virtue of their top-ten finishes, the foursome earned All-AMC honors.
Quinn Parker posted a total of 232 (76-76-80) for the Pioneers.
With the AMC title, Malone, which is ranked sixth in the most recent NAIA national ratings, earned an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championships at the TPC Deer Run Golf Course in Silvis, Illinois May 24-27.
