Men’s Golf Team Wins Own Fall Classic; Justin Lower Takes Individual Medalist Honors

The Malone University men's golf team captured its own two-day Fall Classic at the Tannenhauf Golf Course in Alliance on Friday and Saturday as the Pioneers took first among a nine-team field with a score of 572 (288-284) while Daemen (NY) College placed second at 612 (309-303). The University of Northwestern Ohio finished third at 614 (315-299), Spring Arbor (MI) University placed fourth at 617 (315-302) and Mt. Vernon Nazarene University rounded out the top five at 629 (327-302).

Malone's Justin Lower (Sr., Northwest H.S.) captured individual medalist honors by shooting a score of 137 (70-67). Richie Schembechler (Jr., Massillon Wash. H.S.) finished third overall at 143 (73-70) and Quinn Parker (Sr., Canton Central Catholic H.S.) placed fifth at 147 (75-72). Also competing on the Malone varsity were Zach Keller (Sr., Wynford H.S.), who tied for sixth at 148 (73-75), and Jon Clark (Fr., Jackson H.S.), who finished in a tie for eighth at 149 (72-77).

Malone team members who competed as individuals at the event included Josh Kopka (Carpentersville, IL), who came in fourth overall at 146 (73-73), Jay Hollifield (So., Louisville H.S.), who tied for sixth at 148 (73-75), Ryan Gaughan (Sr., Lake H.S.), who tied for eighth at 149 (76-73), Kenny Earle (Fr., Massillon Wash. H.S.) at 153 (81-72), Connor McCaulley (Fr., Stow-Munroe Falls H.S.) at 153 (76-77), Steve Robison (Sr., Jackson H.S.) at 154 (77-77), Matt Ludlow (Fr., Cardinal H.S.) at 158 (80-78) and Tommy Miano (Fr., Stow Munroe Falls H.S.) at 167 (82-85).

The Pioneer men's golf team will next compete at the Cleveland State University Invitational October 4-5.
