Series:
Saturday's game is the second meeting between the two teams as Anna Maria is in its second season of intercollegiate football. Last season, the Pioneers travelled to Paxton, Massachusetts and defeated the AMCATS by a final score of 65-10.

Coaches:
Malone – Eric Hehman is in his first season as the Pioneers' head coach after spending the last five years as the head coach at NCAA Division III Greenville (IL) College. Overall, Hehman tallied a 28-22 record at Greenville, leading the Panthers to a 7-3 record in 2009 and a berth in the NCCAA Victory Bowl.

Anna Maria – A 21-year coaching veteran, Marc Klaiman is in his second year as the head coach at Anna Maria after having most recently served as the associate head coach/defensive coordinator for Merrimack College in Andover, Massachusetts. The AMCATS finished 0-9 last year in their inaugural season of football.

Malone Notes
After opening 2010 with road losses of 31-21 at NCAA Division II Tiffin University and 28-7 at Saint Ambrose (IA) University, the Pioneers will be looking to turn things around in their home opener against Anna Maria…Last week at SAU, the two teams went to the locker room at halftime tied 7-7 but the Fighting Bees pulled away midway through the third quarter with three quick touchdowns, two of which came off Malone turnovers...Through its first two contests this season, Malone ranks fifth in the 16-team MSFA in rushing with an average of 195.5 yards on the ground per game… The Pioneers set a school record with 442 rushing yards in last year's game against the AMCATS.

Malone players to watch
Through two games this year, RB Markus McFolling has gained 202 rushing yards on 32 carries (6.3 average) with one score…QB Mike Karls picked up 76 rushing yards last week on just four carries…On the season, Karls is averaging nearly 13 rushing yards on his nine attempts (116 total rushing yards) with a long run of 45 yards…WR Matt Kiel has caught five passes for 70 yards with one touchdown…Defensively, LB Antonio Scassa has racked up 23 tackles in two games with two tackles for loss, one sack, an interception and a forced fumble..DB Isaiah Wyatt follows with 21 tackles…LB Matt Vick and DL Frank McCormick have tallied 17 tackles apiece…Vick has also snagged one interception while McCormick has tallied 2.5 sacks…Last week against Saint Ambrose, DB Jordan Scott intercepted a pass and returned it 65 yards for a TD and also forced a fumble at the goal line that prevented a fourth-quarter touchdown.

Anna Maria Notes
The AMCATS, members of NCAA Division III, opened their 2010 season with a 49-21 loss at Worcester State (MA) University on September 4th and then fell 47-0 to Maine Maritime Academy in their home opener last Saturday… Although Anna Maria has averaged over 95 rushing yards per game this season, the AMCATS have also surrendered over 800 yards of total offense and committed eight turnovers in their two losses.

Anna Maria players to watch
Through the AMCATS first two games, RB Robert Small has gained 115 yards on 34 attempts…RB Jean Batista has also contributed on the ground with 52 rushing yards on 25 carries…QB Santino Simon has completed 16 of 38 pass attempts (42.1%) for 93 yards with one touchdown… WR Dom Concepcion has caught 14 passes for 69 yards and one score…LB Mike Joseph paces the squad (and ranks second in the eight-team Eastern Collegiate Football Conference) with 21 total tackles, including one sack…Fellow LB's Casey Goguen and Christopher Lizotte follow with 13 tackles and one forced fumble apiece…LB Nii Quartey has made 12 stops on the year with one sack, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
