Series:
The Pioneers hold a 7-5 advantage in the all-time series with the Trojans. Malone had won four straight games in the series before Taylor brought the Pioneer winning streak to an end last season with a 23-17 victory at Fawcett Stadium.

Coaches:
Malone – Eric Hehman is in his first season as the Pioneers' head coach after spending the last five years as the head coach at NCAA Division III Greenville (IL) College. Overall, Hehman tallied a 28-22 record at Greenville, leading the Panthers to a 7-3 record in 2009 and a berth in the NCCAA Victory Bowl.

Taylor – Ron Korfmacher is in his third season as the head coach at Taylor after having guided the Trojans to a 9-11 mark over the past two seasons. After struggling through a 2-8 campaign in 2008, Taylor showed significant improvement in 2009, finishing with a 7-3 overall mark. Prior to becoming the head coach two years ago, Korfmacher had spent 23 years as an assistant at Taylor.

The Pioneers suffered a narrow 23-17 loss on the road last Saturday to the NAIA's ninth-ranked team, the University of Saint Francis…The Cougars managed to avoid the upset after a fourth-down Pioneer pass from the Saint Francis 10-yard line was batted down with just 14 seconds remaining on the clock…Malone controlled the ground game on Saturday, out-gaining the Cougars by a 256-38 margin in rushing yards…The Pioneers currently rank third in the 16-team MSFA (fourth in the NAIA) in rushing with an average of 272.8 yards per game.

Malone players to watch:
Through four games this year, RB Markus McFolling has piled up 395 rushing yards on just 60 attempts (6.6 average) with three touchdowns…McFolling's average of 98.8 yards per game ranks fourth in the MSFA and 16th overall in the NAIA… QB Mike Karls has completed nine of 21 pass attempts on the year for 153 yards with one TD and two interceptions…Karls is the second-leading rusher on the team with 206 yards on 40 attempts (5.2 average), including a long run of 45 yards and one rushing TD…WR Matt Kiel has pulled in six catches for 94 yards and one score through the Pioneers' first four contests…TE Tom Ferron has caught five passes for 75 yards and one score…On the defensive side of the ball, LB Antonio Scassa leads the squad with 33 total tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss and a sack…Scassa has also forced a fumble and intercepted a pass…LB Matt Vick has made 24 total tackles with one interception…DB Isaiah Wyatt follows with 23 tackles while DB Willie Pearson has made 22 total tackles with two interceptions and six pass break-ups…DL Cody Carroll paces the team with three sacks.

Taylor Notes:
The Trojans fell 46-21 on the road to NAIA No. 3 Saint Xavier (IL) University on Saturday in its MSFA Mideast League opener…Taylor grabbed an early 7-0 lead before the high-powered Cougar offense erupted for 46 unanswered points, putting the game out of reach… Taylor limited Saint Xavier to 21 rushing yards on 30 attempts but also surrendered 336 yards to the Cougars through the air…Taylor is currently second in the MSFA (ranks ninth overall in the NAIA) in passing with an average of 276.4 yards per contest.

Taylor players to watch:
QB Shaun Addison has completed 91 of 166 pass attempts (54.8%) for 1329 yards with 10 touchdowns and four interceptions…Addison, who currently ranks second in the MSFA and ninth in the NAIA with an average of 303 yards of total offense per game, is also a threat on the ground as he has notched 186 rushing yards on 60 attempts with two rushing touchdowns…WR Ryan Magnuson has pulled in 36 receptions this year for 606 yards and five TD's…Magnuson currently ranks second in the MSFA in both receptions per game (7.2) and receiving yards per game (121.2)…WR Trenton Schmale has registered 25 receptions for 418 yards and four TD's…Schmale has also made an impact on special teams as he leads the MSFA with a kickoff return average of 28.1 yards (365 kickoff return yards on 13 attempts), including an 84-yard return for a touchdown…RB Taylor Johnson has gained 341 rushing yards on 84 attempts (4.1 average) with five TD's…Defensively, LB Garrett Wheeler, who began his career at Malone before transferring to Taylor, paces the squad with 41 total tackles…DB Brandon Onuselogu follows with 37 tackles, three pass break-ups and two interceptions, one of which he returned 80 yards for a touchdown…DB Brett Currens has made 36 tackles with two interceptions.
