The Pioneers hold a 7-5 advantage in the all-time series with the Trojans. Malone had won four straight games in the series before Taylor brought the Pioneer winning streak to an end last season with a 23-17 victory at Fawcett Stadium.

Malone –
Eric Hehman is in his first season as the Pioneers' head coach after spending the last five years as the head coach at NCAA Division III Greenville (IL) College. Overall, Hehman tallied a 28-22 record at Greenville, leading the Panthers to a 7-3 record in 2009 and a berth in the NCCAA Victory Bowl.
Taylor –
Ron Korfmacher is in his third season as the head coach at Taylor after having guided the Trojans to a 9-11 mark over the past two seasons. After struggling through a 2-8 campaign in 2008, Taylor showed significant improvement in 2009, finishing with a 7-3 overall mark. Prior to becoming the head coach two years ago, Korfmacher had spent 23 years as an assistant at Taylor.

The Pioneers suffered a narrow 23-17 loss on the road last Saturday to the NAIA's ninth-ranked team, the University of Saint Francis…The Cougars managed to avoid the upset after a fourth-down Pioneer pass from the Saint Francis 10-yard line was batted down with just 14 seconds remaining on the clock…Malone controlled the ground game on Saturday, out-gaining the Cougars by a 256-38 margin in rushing yards…The Pioneers currently rank third in the 16-team MSFA (fourth in the NAIA) in rushing with an average of 272.8 yards per game.

The Trojans fell 46-21 on the road to NAIA No. 3 Saint Xavier (IL) University on Saturday in its MSFA Mideast League opener…Taylor grabbed an early 7-0 lead before the high-powered Cougar offense erupted for 46 unanswered points, putting the game out of reach… Taylor limited Saint Xavier to 21 rushing yards on 30 attempts but also surrendered 336 yards to the Cougars through the air…Taylor is currently second in the MSFA (ranks ninth overall in the NAIA) in passing with an average of 276.4 yards per contest.
