CALIFORNIA, Pa. - A crowded top of the leaderboard sees Malone University fourth after the first round of the Vulcan Fire Classic. Wheeling University holds a slim four-shot lead after a team score of 299 on Monday. California University's A and B teams both completed rounds at 304 and the Pioneers are in tow at 305.
 
Jaxon Rinkes is the clubhouse leader after he was even-par 72 through 18 holes. Rinkes had 16 pars and hit for birdie on hole three. Camden Horning is also inside the top-10 after he shot a three-over 75. His round featured three birdies. Ryan Yoder (77), Caden Boyd (80) and Carter Miller (82) also took the course on Monday. Yoder and Boyd each tallied one birdie.
 
The second round at Lone Pine Country Club begins at 12:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 24.
