LILBURN, Ga. - For the third consecutive week, the Malone University women's basketball team is receiving votes, but not nationally-ranked in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Coaches Poll.
Â
The Pioneers were undefeated in the last week, with a win at Ohio Dominican University 63-52, and a 70-60 triumph at home against Walsh University. Malone's senior center
Erin Kaufman was tabbed as the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Athlete of the Week after she averaged 17.0 points and 15.5 rebounds per contest. Kaufman brought in a career-high 18 rebounds in the team's road victory.
Â
After having lost four of six games, the Pioneers have regrouped and are now winners of three in a row. Malone's 8-3 record is third best in the conference standings, but the first iteration of the point rating system will be released on February 2 to help sort teams due to an unbalanced schedule. The next opponent for the Pioneers is Ashland University on Thursday, January 29 at 5:30 P.M. and they are one-game behind Malone at 7-4. The Eagles lost their most recent game against Hillsdale College, 53-52.
