Women's Soccer Adds 12 to Recruiting Class

CANTON, Ohio – The Malone University women's soccer team has introduced their incoming class of student-athletes for the 2025 season. The Pioneers and Head Coach Bailey Shattell are coming off a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) postseason berth last year with a 9-8-1 overall record.
 
Malone is pleased to welcome Sadie Mills, Nayeli Cruz-Irias, Mya Foukas, Valerie Gonzalez Quinteros, Lexi Bischoff, Emmilina Miller, Jillian Schraibman, Aubree Mellana, Elizabeth Lane, Debi Panagiotou, Kaylee Yoak, and Claire Charnock.
 
Mills is a goalkeeper from Ashland, Ohio and Ashland High School. She was the Ohio Cardinal Conference (OCC) Defensive Player of the Year, OCC First Team All-Conference and First Team All-District in 2024 as well as Second Team All-District in 2023. She helped led the Arrows to an OCC title in 2021 and an appearance in the District Semifinals in 2024. Mills was a four-year academic scholar athlete award winner, won the Presidential Award, and received an honors diploma. She intends to major in digital and visual arts with focuses on theater, film and media.
 
Cruz-Irias set multiple school records at Waynedale High School in Apple Creek, Ohio. She scored the most goals in a single match, has the most assists in a season and broke the career records for goals and assists. Cruz-Irias was an All-Ohio recipient and was named First Team All-District. Her team won a district championship and in the classroom, she was listed on the honor roll for four years.
 
Foukas comes to Malone from Mesa, Arizona and Mountain View High School. The defender and midfielder was a First Team All-Region honoree and named Defensive Player of the Year. Academically, Foukas carried a 4.0 grade point average throughout her high school career.
 
Gonzalez Quinteros is a midfielder from Orrville, Ohio and Orrville High School. She received First Team and All-Star recognitions from the Greater Akron Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association (GASSCA) as well as two First Team All-Conference honors from the Principals Athletic Conference (PAC-7). Gonzalez Quinteros was also a Tri-County all-star and was team MVP three times. She led the Red Riders to a PAC-7 title and was a scholar athlete with four honor roll mentions. Gonzalez Quinteros plans to study exercise science.
 
Bischoff will attend Malone after a successful high school career at Kidron Central Christian High School. She was a member of the boys soccer team in a program that reached the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) State Semifinal round in 2024. Bischoff was named First Team and Second Team Tri-County League in her career and appeared in the Wayne County Senior All-Stars game. Academically, she was a scholar athlete for four seasons and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Bischoff will be studying exercise science.
 
Miller is a defender from Port St. Lucie, Florida and the Morningside Academy. She was announced as the Morningside Academy's Female Athlete of the Year in 2022-23 and 2024-25. Miller was a part of programs that won the State Cup in 2022 and 2025, the Sunshine Conference Championship in 2023 and 2025, a USLW Championship in 2024 and an NPL League Championship in 2023 and 2024. In the classroom, Miller was valedictorian and received the All-Area Scholar Athlete Award in her senior season.
 
Schraibman is a forward from Strongsville, Ohio and Strongsville High School. She was a four-year member of the school's honor roll and intends on studying nursing at Malone. Schraibman helped the Mustangs to a Regional Final appearance in 2024 and a OHSAA State Semifinal appearance in 2023.
 
Mellana will make the long trek to Canton, Ohio from Lakewood, California and Saint Joseph High School. The defender was a 2025 Del Rey League First Team All-League recipient and was named 2025 Defensive Player of the Year. She was a part of the 2022 California Interscholastic Federation Regional and State Championship squad and the Del Rey League Championship team. Mellana received the Outstanding Academic Excellence award from the President Education Awards Program, was a California Scholarship Federation Member, a member of National Honor Society and was a four-year scholar athlete. She intends to double major in business administration and sport management.
 
Lane, a goalkeeper from Dover, Ohio, competed for the Dover High School girl's soccer program as well as the swim team. She was a Second Team All-District goalkeeper for the Tornadoes in 2023 and 2024 for a squad that was Regional Runners-Up in 2022. In the pool, Lane was the Sectional Swimmer of the Year in 2023 and 2024 and the District Swimmer of the Year in 2023. She intends to enter the Malone nursing program.
 
Panagiotou is the sister of men's soccer player Konstantinos Panagiotou and attended Open Door Christian School. She was named a rising star and all-star as well as First and Second Team All-Greater Cleveland and Lorain County. The defender was a member of the honor roll and intends on majoring in marketing and accounting upon her arrival at Malone.
 
Yoak, a defender from Hartville, Ohio, competed for the Lake Blue Streaks and was named All-Stark County, All-Federal League and All-District. She is the daughter of Brian Yoak, a Malone baseball player who graduated in 1999. She is undecided on a major.
 
Charnock is a forward from Monroe High School in Michigan. She was her team's leading scorer, Trojan Award winner and team captain while also securing a spot on the Southeastern Conference (SEC) All-League Team, All-District Team, All-Region Team and Third Team All-State. The Monroe News named her to the All-Region squad as well and Charnock competed in the regional all-star game. She helped lead Monroe to a District Championship and several tournament wins. In the classroom, Charnock was an All-Academic Athlete, a member of National Honor Society and graduated Summa Cum Laude. She will be entering the Malone nursing program.

The regular season begins for the Pioneers on Thursday, September 4 with a non-conference match versus Davis & Elkins at 5:00 P.M.
