Weilnau and Rose Named NCCAA All-Midwest Region

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The NCCAA has announced the softball honorees of All-Midwest Region. The Malone University softball program had a pair of NCCAA All-Midwest Region recipients in Allie Weilnau and Mia Rose. It is the first NCCAA All-Midwest Region honor for both student-athletes.
 
The duo helped lead the Pioneers to a 24-20 overall record and their second straight appearance in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Tournament. The two aces combined to pitch 283.0 of the 287.2 innings for the team this season.
 
Weilnau, a senior pitcher from Sandusky, Ohio, held a record of 14-8 in the circle with a 2.64 ERA and 1.32 WHIP. Her ERA is tied for the 15th best in all of the NCCAA on the year and Weilnau had the seventh-most wins. She had two shutouts and 17 complete games for Malone on the year with 105 strikeouts.
 
Rose received the honor as a pitcher and utility player for Malone. The sophomore Gnadenhutten, Ohio native was 10-12 with a 2.90 ERA and 1.16 WHIP over 145.0 innings pitched. Rose was tied for second in the NCCAA with 133 strikeouts and fifth in lowest batting average against at .232. At the plate, Rose led the Pioneers with a .388 batting average and 1.001 OPS. She had 45 total hits with six doubles, two triples and four homeruns. Rose drove in 19 and scored herself 19 times as well.
