SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Malone University men's and women's track & field programs were in action on Saturday at the Dave Labor Invitational. The Pioneer men were fifth and women third in the team standings at the event. Hosts Slippery Rock University won the men's scoring and Kent State University took home top prize for the women.
Malone had several first-place performers, including
Allea Graves in the 400-meter dash (58.07 seconds) and
Alex Hill in the 5000-meter run (15:27.62). The 4x400-meter relay team consisting of
Will Potts,
Tyler Twining,
Brylan Holland and
Eric Dehmer was also first at 3:28.09.
Both women's relay teams placed third at the Dave Labor Invitational.
Cara Pipitone, Graves,
Abigail Blaz and
Macey Hicks finished with a time of 49.27 seconds in the 4x100-meter relay while
Brooklyn McIntyre, Pipitone,
Rebekah Stoneman and Graves ran a 4:10.94 in the 4x400-meter relay.
The Pioneers received multiple scoring members from the 3000-meter steeplechase event.
Rylee Yocum (3rd) and
Jenna Cassidy (4th) had times of 11:37.55 and 11:41.20. On the men's side,
Yahya Jawadi was third (10:01.94) and
Wyatt Royster was fifth (10:08.07).
Additional individual highlights for Malone included
Kylee Gray with a fourth-place finish in the 5000-meter run (18:50.39), Dehmer fifth in the 800-meter run (1:54.87) and
Me'zel Square-Ward fifth in the triple jump (13.42 meters / 44' 0.25").
The Pioneers go out-of-state once again for their next meet, the Fast Break Athletics Invitational at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. That meet begins on Friday, April 11.
