Strouse Leads the Way for Pioneers in Round One of Cav Classic

CANTON, Ohio – The Malone University women's golf team was in action at Glenmoor Country Club on Monday afternoon for the Cav Classic. The Pioneers (330) are tied for sixth through 18-of-36 holes in the two-day event. Gannon University (305) are the leaders in the clubhouse by four strokes over Wayne State University (309).
 
Malone has a pair of golfers inside the top-20 with Erin Strouse tied for 14th and Addison Burris tied for 19th. Strouse fired a 79 and had a birdie in the midst of a 2-over back nine. Burris had a team-high 11 pars en route to an 81.
 
Maria Warner had a birdie on hole one to score an 83. She started her day on hole seven and had three consecutive pars to start on the right foot. The final member of the team score was Kaylyn Henson at 87. The freshman was steady throughout the round with seven pars. Claire Hostetler (93) had seven pars as well. Abbigail Jones competed as an individual and finished the day at 89. Her round featured a birdie on hole eight.
 
Play resumes at Glenmoor Country Club on Tuesday, April 15 with the second and final round of the Cav Classic. This is the last regular season event for Malone women's golf prior to the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championships on April 24-26.
