CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Malone University track & field team opened the Fast Break Athletics Invitational on Friday and brought home several impressive times in a loaded field of competitors.
The men's field student-athletes secured three top-ten marks, led by a sixth from
Me'zel Square-Ward in the long jump (6.34 meters / 20' 9.75").
Obed West was seventh in the hammer throw at 43.60 meters (143' 0.00") and
Gavin Tribelo notched an eighth-place finish in the shot put at 13.79 meters (45' 3.00").
Jaclyn Jundzilo was the lone women's thrower for the Pioneers on Friday. She was 12th in the hammer throw with a best toss of 34.26 meters (112' 5.00"). 12th was also the best finish for track athletes for the night.
Allea Graves just missed the program's top-ten list with a time of 25.69 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
Cara Pipitone was 14th in the 400-meter hurdle event (1:09.62) while
Kylee Gray finished 17th in the 10,000-meter run at 38:41.39.
Rylee Yocum had a new personal best in the 5000-meter race at 17:37.10, good for 19th, and
Alex Hill was 21st in the 10,000-meter event at 31:09.83. Gray, Yocum and Hill are now inside the top 100 among NCAA DII in their respective events.
