Women's Track Impresses at West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY, W.V. – The Malone University track & field team wrapped up the Tim Weaver Invitational on Saturday. The Pioneers brought home three event wins and one new student-athlete was added to the top ten list all-time.
 
Allea Graves had a phenomenal outing with a victory in the 100-meter dash (12.81 seconds) as well as a second-place position in the 200-meter dash (25.74 seconds) and 400-meter dash (57.84 seconds). The later two times are personal bests and her 400-meter finish is seventh in program history. Macey Hicks was third (12.88 seconds) in the 100-meter dash and fourth 26.24 seconds) in the 200-meter dash. Abigail Blaz was eighth (26.61 seconds) in the 200-meter dash with a new personal best time.
 
Rylee Yocum secured a second event win for the Malone women in the 1500-meter run. She ran a new personal best time of 4:45.29. Kristin Yeager was fifth (4:54.72) in the same event. Yocum (2:19.09) and Yeager (2:24.61) were also second and sixth in the 800-meter run to pace the Pioneers. Kylee Gray was also an event champion in the 5000-meter run with a time of 19:17.01.
 
Yahya Jawadi was runner-up in the 1500-meter race at 4:01.27, a new personal best. Xander Heil (1:57.97 – 800), Cara Pipitone (1:09.07 – 400 Hurdles) and Alex Swinehart (5303 – Decathlon) were credited with third place finishes. Chase Balko was fifth (4:10.21) and sixth (1:59.48) in the 1500-meter run and 800-meter run, respectively.
 
In field events, Aiden Mastaso was fourth in the discus at 43.69 meters (143' 4.00") and Me'zel Square-Ward sixth in the triple jump at 13.39 meters (43' 11.25").
 
The Pioneers are next in action on Saturday, April 5 at Slippery Rock University for the Dave Labor Invitational.
