ASHLAND, Ohio – The Malone University track & field team was in action on Friday at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championship event. Through the first day, the Malone men are ninth and women tenth on the leaderboards. The University of Findlay are ahead in the men's standings and host Ashland University are in the lead on the women's side.
Each of the Pioneer distance medley relay teams scored points for their respective squads. The women's team consisting of
Kristin Yeager,
Brooklyn McIntyre,
Jenna Cassidy and
Rylee Yocum was sixth at 12:16.20 and the men's team of
Manamanya Opiew,
Sabastian Lacatus,
Eric Dehmer and
Hayden Schmidt were seventh (10:13.77).
Lacatus also qualified for the men's 200-meter finals on Saturday with a new personal record time of 21.91 seconds. That mark also moves him up to second on the team's indoor top-ten list.
Macey Hicks (25.80 seconds) and
Allea Graves (58.86 seconds) also moved up in the program's top-ten lists in the 200-meter run and 400-meter run. Hicks is now tied for third and Graves fifth despite failing to qualify for the event finals in their events.
The G-MAC Championships continue on Saturday, March 1 with 23 events yet to be scored.
