WBCA Poll Has Malone Receiving Votes

11/18/25

LILBURN, Ga. - The Malone University women's basketball team is still receiving votes in the week one edition of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) NCAA Division II Coaches Poll.

The Pioneers picked up two wins in the opening weekend of competition with a 75-65 triumph over Wayne State University and a 94-57 thumping of the University of Indianapolis.

A 29-11 difference in fourth quarter scoring helped Malone to come-from-behind to defeat the Warriors in the team's first game of the year. The Pioneers trailed by eight going into the period, but 14 key points by junior Elena Oliver propelled the team to victory.

Sophomore Kylee Bruce knocked down three triples to begin the game against the Greyhounds where Malone went on to win without trailing. Senior Erin Kaufman ended with a game-high 24 points and went 7-for-11 from the field and a perfect 10-for-10 from the charity stripe. Junior Irene Maroto brought down a team-high 10 rebounds.

Kaufman had a fantastic opening weekend with 19.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. She added five steals to her ledger as well. She helped the Pioneers win the rebounding battle by 15 over opponents, a mark good for 13th in all of NCAA Division II to begin the season.

Malone is in action at Seton Hill University on November 18 and then return home to face Roosevelt University on Friday, November 21 at 5:30 P.M.
