OBERLIN, Ohio – After a long winter break, the Malone University swimming and diving teams were back in action on Saturday at Oberlin College. The Pioneers competed against both the host Yeomen and Yeowomen as well as Gannon University in a double duel.
Malone came up short to Oberlin 212-61 on the men's side and 216-56 on the women's side. Gannon was victorious over the Pioneers for both the men (221-34) and women (213-44) as well.
Seth McMillen and
Elisha Thompkins led the swimming and diving men. McMillen recorded a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 100-yard Breaststroke (1:02.29) and the 50-yard Freestyle (22.56 seconds). Thompkins had highlights of fourth in the 200-yard Freestyle (1:51.89) and a fifth in the 100-yard Freestyle (49.54 seconds).
For the Malone women,
Sydney Fleming notched two second-place finishes on Saturday. The first came in the 100-yard Backstroke where Fleming finished with a time of 1:02.19 and the second in the 200-yard Individual Medley at 2:18.83.
Danielle Ketler was third in the 1650-yard Freestyle (19:29.38) and fourth in the 500-yard Freestyle (5:44.81). In diving events,
Allea Graves scored a 157.35 in the 1-meter dive to tally a second-place finish.
Up next, the swimming and diving program heads to the state of West Virginia to take on Fairmont State University and the West Virginia University Institute of Technology in a double duel on Saturday, January 25.
