CANTON, Ohio - Day one of the 2025-26 Great Midwest / Mountain East Swimming & Diving Championship has come to a close. The Malone University men's swimming & diving team is eighth and the women's team seventh through 12 finalized events.

In the 50-yard freestyle, freshman Elizabeth Lane's time of 24.82 in the prelims qualified her for the B-finals. Lane placed 10th overall with a second-place B-final finish at 24.48 seconds. That time is a personal best and improves her fifth-best mark in program history.

Freshman Ashtyn Rickel was in the B-finals of the 200-yard individual medley and finished 16th at 2:16.06. The 200-yard individual medley also featured freshman Ann-Katherine Burns in the C-finals. Burns was 24th at 2:20.06.

The lone individual participant for the Malone men was freshman Landon Sutter in the 200-yard individual medley. He was 23rd in the C-finals with a time of 2:03.78.

The best finish for the Pioneers in the four relay events was a fifth-place time from junior Lauryn Ebersole, sophomore Danielle Ketler, Lane and Rickel in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team had a time of 1:40.92, the seventh-best time in program history. The women's 200-yard medley relay saw Rickel, Burns, Ebersole and Lane place sixth at 1:51.18. That just misses the top spot in program history and is the second-best time swam at Malone.

On the men's side, Sutter, sophomore Seth McMillen, junior Elisha Thompkins and sophomore Dylan Yoder were eighth in the 200-yard medley relay (1:38.57) and the same four were eighth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:28.91).
