Owensboro, KY-- The Malone University men's golf team competed at the 2024 Great Midwest Championship Tournament this week. 

After a solid start, the Pioneers found themselves tied for 8th place at the end of day one, boasting a team score of 299. Determined to climb the leaderboard, they tightened their game and improved by 2 strokes in round two, edging closer to the top contenders.

Unfortunately, the Malone ended with an overall 54-hole team score of 917 which was good enough for 9th place.

Individually the Pioneers were led by Gunnar McCollins who finished tied for third with a score of -2 and earned a spot on the Great Midwest All-Conference team.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Malone will now wait for news regarding a potential at large birth to the NCAA Midwest Regional Championship. The Pioneers currently are ranked 11th in the Midwest Region. 

Pioneer golfer Gunnar McCollins will also wait to see if he has qualified as an individual for the NCAA Midwest Regional Championship.
