Malone Faces Tough Battle, Falls 9-2 to Concordia-St. Paul

03/04/24

Box Score Tuscon, AZ-- It was another day at the Tuscon Invitational Games for Malone Baseball. The Pioneers faced a tough  Concordia St. Paul team and fell short 9-2.

THE ESSENTIALS
  • Concordia St. Paul 9 - Malone 2
  • Records: Malone University Pioneers (3-8, 0-0 G-MAC) |  Concordia University St. Paul Golden Bears (9-2, 3-1 NSIC)
  • Location: Tuscon, Arizona | Kino Sports Complex Field #5

The Game

In the early innings, Jacob Rollyson held down the mound effectively for Malone. However, it was in the bottom of the third inning that the Golden Bears managed to score first.

Malone made their presence known by swiftly responding. Despite Clayton Criss grounding into a double play, Anthony Ryan hustled home, knotting the game at 1-1. The Tie didn't last long, with Concordia quickly breaking free. They plated four runs in the bottom of the fifth and added one more in the sixth, asserting their lead in the game.

In the seventh inning, Jake Aleman swung hard, sending the ball soaring over the right-field line for a homer, earning an RBI. Unfortunately, that marked the end of the scoring for the Pioneers as they were unable to add any more runs, ultimately falling short with a final score of 9-2.
