CANTON, Ohio – The Malone University men's and women's swimming and diving team kicked off their season on Friday, October 4 at Bluffton University.
The team won their first meet of the season with the men's side, 159-34. They were led by point scorers
Seth McMillen and
Lincoln Rickleff with 27 points each. On the women's side, the Pioneers won 138-53 and were led by
Sydney Fleming and
Molly Maloy with 27 points as well.
Some notable events from the meet were both teams winning the 200-yard medley relay to start off the evening. The women's relay team consisted of Fleming,
Lauryn Ebersole, Maloy, and
Danielle Ketler with a time of 2:00.73. The men's team consisted of Rickleff, McMillen,
Elisha Thompkins, and
Brady Porter with a time of 1:44.44.
The Pioneers had a few personal bests at the meet. Rickleff set a new personal record in both the 50-yard backstroke and the 100-yard individual medley. His time in the backstroke was 28.27 and in the individual medley his time was 1:01.16.
The Pioneers are taking a week off then traveling to Wheeling University for another dual meet on Saturday, October 19.
