PALM COAST, Fla. – After round one of the 2024 NCCAA Women's Golf Championships, the Malone University women's golf team sits third out of five participating teams.
The Pioneers fired a 322 on Monday and have three student-athletes inside the top-10. Bethel University (309) and Grace College (320) are just ahead of the team in scoring.
"We have great team chemistry," junior
Erin Strouse pointed out. "We all support one another and are very encouraging. It's really important to have this mindset to do well in these types of tournaments!"
Strouse carded a 78 to led Malone on the day. She birdied the 11th hole and had a team-high 13 pars. The duo of sophomore
Maria Warner and freshman
Claire Hostetler tied for ninth on the leaderboard with 80's. Warner wrapped up a 1-over front nine with a birdie and Hostetler opened her round with a birdie and finished with five consecutive pars.
Also participating for the Pioneers were freshman
Addison Burris and junior
Savanna Porter. Burris fired an 84 on Monday with a birdie on the first hole as well. Porter had a score of 90 featuring seven pars.
