winning last week's road game 13-5.
In Tuesday's second meeting Malone pounded out 15 hits, but still needed a pair of late runs in the eighth inning to help secure the 14-12 win.Â

HIGHLIGHTS
After a scoreless first inning for both sides the Falcons jumped on the Pioneers early.Â
Notre Dame used four hits to plate four runs in the top of the second inning.Â
In the bottom half of the inning it was a RBI single by
Tate Engle that brought home
Jake Aleman for Malone's first run of the day. Later in the inning
Jeremy Tonelli scored on a wild pitch to make it a 4-2 game.Â
After
TJ Curry and
Caesen Sutton combined to pitch a scoreless top of the third inning, the Pioneers were able to take the lead in the bottom half of the inning.Â
Evan Balzano's RBI double brought in
Anthony Ryan. Then,
Jake Aleman's safety squeeze bunt allowed both Balzano and
Anthony Bartiromo to score and give MU a 5-4 lead.Â
At that point Sutton settled into a rhythm on the mound, and Malone's offense began to add on insurance runs.
A RBI groundout by Ryan put Malone up 6-4 in the fourth, but the big inning came in the fifth.Â
The Pioneers sent nine men to the plate in the bottom of the fifth. Five of those came around to score.
Devin Brown,
Tyson Gingerich,
Anthony Ryan, and
Anthony Bartiromo all had RBIs in the inning for the Pioneers to help put MU up 11-4 after five full innings.Â
Unfortunately Notre Dame was able to battle back.Â
The Falcons got a pair of runs in the seventh, and then scored six runs on six hits in the eighth to take a 12-11 lead.
The Pioneers rallied back in their half of the eighth inning.
Malone loaded the bases on a pair of walks and an error by NDC.
Clayton Criss was hit by a pitch to bring in the tying run, and then
Jaxon Snyder came through with a two-out, two-RBI single to plate the go ahead runs.Â
Danny Miller, who had entered from the bullpen to stop the bleeding in the top of the eighth, worked around a pair of base runners in the top of the ninth to finish off his second win of the season.
