Pioneers Swept at Ashland in Four-Game G-MAC Series

ASHLAND, Ohio -- The Malone University baseball team traveled to Ashland University for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) series on Friday and Saturday.

Unfortunately, the Pioneers dropped all four games to the host Eagles.

THE ROUNDUP
Friday | April 7 Saturday | April 8
THE ESSENTIALS
  • Records: Ashland (22-9, 13-3 G-MAC) | Malone (15-17, 4-12 G-MAC)
  • Location: Ashland, Ohio | Archer Complex

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE SERIES
  • Mitch Maurer continued his strong 2023 campaign on Friday afternoon. He pitched all eight innings of the first game. He scattered five hits, and allowed just the one earned run to score. Unfortunately he was handed the loss in Malone's 1-0 defeat.
  • Evan Balzano led Malone's offense in the series by going 5-12 at the plate (.417). He also scored twice.
  • Eric Baum had a pair of RBIs in Saturday's first game.
WHAT'S NEXT
Malone will be back at home on Tuesday for a non-conference game against Notre Dame College.

First pitch from Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium is set for 12:00 p.m.
