The Pioneers used 13 hits to score 7 runs in a 7-4 win over West Virginia State.

The win gives Malone the season sweep of the Yellow Jackets. Earlier in the season MU swept a doubleheader at WVSU.

Jackson Phelps, who got the start on the mound, worked out of a jam in the top of the fifth inning to limit WVSU to just one run.

An RBI double from Anthony Ryan and RBI single from Clayton Criss made it 6-3 in favor of the Pioneers after five complete innings.

Malone got another insurance run on a RBI double from Diaz in the sixth.

The Yellow Jackets rallied in the eighth, but Michael Paljich limited the damage to just one run.

William Rouse shut the door in the ninth inning for his first save of the season.
