Cedarville, Ohio -- The Malone University men's and women's track & field team competed at the 2023 NCCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Cedarville, Ohio on Friday and Saturday.
The women's team finished eighth overall with 34 points and the men's squad placed sixth with a score of 53 points.
Women's Highlights
In the mile, Rylee Yocum got 13th place with a personal-best time of 5:10.33.
Anna Gregg (2nd) finished the 800-meter run with a time of 2:21.96.
Ella Pumneo ran a career-best time of 10:28.98 in the 3000-meter run, to give her a second place finish.
The distance medley team, composed of Sabrina McClain, Yocum, Kendall Anenson, and Jenna Cassidy placed second, clocking a time of 13:02.92.
Men's Highlights
In the mile, Hayden Schmidt was the second runner to cross the finish line, finishing with a time of 4:13.13. Manamanya Opiew was the second Pioneer to finish the race with a time of 4:28.65 that got him sixth place.
Chase Balko (4th) finished the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:48.30.
Receiving a time of 15:49.85, Josiah Hicks placed sixth in the 5000-meter run.
The 4x800-meter relay team, composed of Tucker Markko, Joe Joe Rolko, Gabe Shilling, and Opiew finished second with a time of 8:01.29.
In the throwing events, Chris Beemiller placed third in the weight throw with a distance of 15.20 meters and second in the shot put with a distance of 13.85 meters.

On Saturday, February 18, the Pioneers will participate in the Raider Tune-Up hosted by the University of Mount Union.
