Malone Men's Soccer Falls 3-1

NORTH CANTON, Ohio – The Malone University men's soccer team lost their third consecutive match in the 2020-21 season on Saturday night with a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Walsh University Cavaliers.
 
The Pioneers fall to 0-3-0 on the year and in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). Walsh improves their record to 2-1-1, 1-1 in league action.
 
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED:
Walsh wasted little time getting on the board with a goal in the fourth minute of the game.
 
Nathan McFeaters responded with back-to-back shots for Malone, one of which was saved by the Cavalier keeper.
 
Antoine Leheron scored the first goal of the season for the Pioneers in the 23rd minute of play to tie the game up at one.
 
Malone continued on the offensive side of the field the rest of the half, with two shots from Patrick Brightbill and one from Colton Fry. The Pioneers outshot Walsh 7-6 in period one.
 
To start the second, each team took a shot on goal, both of which were saved by the opposing goaltender. It was the second save of the evening for Pioneer goalie Nick Wilhelm.
 
Walsh reclaimed the lead with a goal in the 51st minute of play and would keep it the duration of the half.
 
Patrick Alvarez had an opportunity on a loose ball in the box in the 75th minute, but missed left. The Cavaliers added a third goal in the 84th minute to take the 3-1 victory.

The next match for the Pioneers is one week from today on Saturday, March 27. It is a men's and women's doubleheader against Kentucky Wesleyan College. The women's game will begin at 1 pm and the men will kickoff at 4 pm at GlenOak High School.
