Prior to Malone: A three-year letter winner at Hoover High School, Wilhelm put together an outstanding senior season, earning Stark County Player of the Year and First Team All-Federal League accolades. In addition, Wilhelm also received the OSSCA Academic Excellence Award in recognition of his hard work in the classroom.
